Cecilia O. Babalola, M.D.  Joins Emory Eastside Medical Center

August 27, 2009- Emory Eastside Medical Center is pleased to welcome Cecilia O. Babalola, M.D.  Licensed in the State of Georgia and board certified in Internal Medicine, she is currently practicing at Covenant Medical Center P.C. in Lilburn.

Dr. Babalola received her medical degree from Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia.  She did her residency at Yale Primary Care Internal Medicine Program/ St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, Connecticut, with rotations at Yale, St. Mary’s Hospital, Waterbury Hospital, and the Veteran’s Hospital.  Her background includes working with Kaiser Permanente and Morehouse School of Medicine’s NASA Space Medicine and Life Sciences Research Center, as well as many years in a variety of nursing specialties.  Dr. Babalola received a Master’s degree from State University of New York, a B.S. from St. Joseph’s College (Brooklyn) and an R.N. from School of Nursing in Akure, Nigeria.

Medicine has always been a part of Dr. Babalola’s working life, but she enjoyed a career in Nigeria and the United States as a registered nurse (hospital, home care, visiting nurse, maternal and infant care, family planning and HIV/AIDS) for 18 years before starting Georgia State’s post baccalaureate pre-medical program.  Working in Emory University Hospital’s cardio-vascular surgery unit for eight years, including/during her pre-med studies, she then completed medical school at Morehouse School of Medicine.
